What a week of endurance events. Firstly on Sunday the Berkeley PR team survived the Commando Challenge 2008 in what was an unbelievably tough race but also incredibly rewarding. I was absolutely buzzing at the end and so glad that we raised so much money for the fabulous Devon Air Ambulance service. My arms and knees are ripped to pieces from crawling through the tunnels but I am so glad that I ran with my colleagues at Berkeley PR and that we all completed the event together.
We saw a number of teams separate and run as individuals but am very proud that although a lot of my team were stronger and faster than I am, they stayed with me and helped each other through the course. Read my fellow runner and superstar Beth’s blog for more details. A massive thanks goes out to all of you who sponsored us – we are are all humbled by your kindness.
So after completing this what next? Well on wednesday I have my eye on my next endurance events – Storage Expo and Total Print Expo. I will keep you updated as to whether I survive them!

The wife is jabbering on the phone to her mate so I thought I would sneak into the spare room to watch CSI and catch up on some blog reading. This led me to The Opposite Direction a blog written by Robin Wilson (a man with excellent music taste and a cool blog – make sure you check it out).
Robin was reporting on the fact that Symantec, who I worked with when they aquired Altiris a while ago, is running a competition to win a trip to space. Well as Robin points out, it is actually a 62 mile high sub orbital flight but hey it is near enough if you ask me.
If you fancy yourself as astronaut then this competition designed to promote the speed of the new Norton software could be for you. So, what is involved in winning this amasing competition which Symantec is pushing as a social media release? Well you enter your details and keep your fingers crossed………hhmmmm not the most creative is it?
I personally agreed with Robin. It’s a shame they didn’t do anything more creative with the entry mechanic. For a trip into near-space, you could be talking sci-fi short story competitions, photo comps on Flickr of papier-mache space-ships, best alien impressions on Youtube etc.
